Early Bird AAA Tournament Details

Date: September 4th to 7th, 2008. Age Category: Minor and Major Bantam
RED WINGS EARLY BIRD TOURNAMENT - Format, Rules & Regulationsules & Regulations
- Tournament Registration Fee: $995.00 for Canadian Teams or $995.00 American Teams.
- Each team will be guaranteed FOUR games in a five-team Round Robin, with a maximum of seven games if the team makes it to the FINALS.
- Guaranteed - 16 teams play 5 games; 8 teams play 6 games; 4 teams play 7 games (ONLY IF THE TOTAL TEAMS IN EACH AGE CATEGORY IS 32 OR MORE).
- TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS, FINALISTS, CONSOLATION CHAMPIONS and FINALISTS will receive awards.
- MVP prizes will be awarded after each game to ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM.

PERMISSION
- Branch permission forms must be presented to tournament officials before you can be accepted.
GAMES
- All games are being played at Chesswood and Westwood Arenas.
- Teams must be prepared to play on all four tournament dates. Efforts will be made to accommodate teams with lengthy travel.
TOURNAMENT RULES
HOCKEY CANADA, O.H.F and U.S.A. rules apply with exceptions as highlighted in the following;
- Teams must register at least one (1) hour prior to first game.
- ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
- Only players Minor Bantam and Bantam for the 2008-2009 season may participate in the Tournament.
- The minimum number of players to be registered is 15, and the maximum number of players to be dressed for each game is 19 (incl. two goalies). Affiliated players will be accepted providing they are registered on initial team list before first game, and may only play for one team in the Tournament.
- Any team found with ineligible players participating in a game will forfeit the game. Games won by a forfeited team will be considered as a win for the opposing team, with a score set at 1-0.
- All teams must carry proof of birth or local league registration cards for each player (copies accepted).
- MATCH PENALTIES: All match penalties shall be reviewed by the Tournament Committee at a hearing attended by the offending player, the coach and any other person designted by the Committee.
- TEAM COLOURS: All teams must carry with them two contrasting colour sets of sweaters. It is the responsibility of the home team to change colour if sweaters are similar to opponents.
- TIES-METHOD OF DECLARING STANDINGS AND WINNERS:
- Head to head result: provided all teams involved in the tie have played each other and a clear victor has emerged.
- Point record against the team within your division.
- Algorithim ratio: GOALS FOR/(GOALS FOR + GOALS AGAINST). Team with calculated result closest to 1.00 wins N.B. Only divisional results will be part of this calculation.
- Least goals against.
- Least Penalty minutes.
- Coin toss by the Tournament Chairperson, or his delegate, in the presence of the Coaches of the tied teams involved.
TIES IN PLAYOFFS & CHAMPIONSHIP: There shall be one five minute stop-time, sudden victory period with 3 skaters and a goalie. If still tied, teams will enter a shoot-out. Three players from each team will participate, with the team scoring the most goals declared the winner. If still tied, teams will enter a sudden victory shoot out with additional players added until the full roster is depleted, with no player participating twice.
- AFTER EACH GAME: Teams must line up along their respective blue line for annoncements and presentation of MVP Awards, after which the teams shall go to their dressing rooms.
- The tournament will not be held responsible for injuries caused by any player or spectator. Please ensure that all your players are covered by insurance before participating in the tournament.
- GTHL referees will officiate in all games.
- The Tournament Committee reserves the right to rule on items not covered above. All decisions will be final.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Dressing Rooms: Only registered players, team officials and tournaments officials will be allowed in the dressing rooms. Dressing rooms must be vacated 20 minutes after each game.
Protests: Protests must be filed by team officials in the Arena Tournament Office with in one-half hour after end of the game. The decision of the Tournament Committee will be final.
Protest fee: $200.00 to be returned if protest is upheld.
Food & drink: A snack bar is available for refreshments, along with a licensed restaurant/bar for the adults, in the main lobby.
