Toronto Red Wings History

The Toronto Red Wings were founded in 1955 by Jack and Carmen Harper. Jack received permission from the Detroit Red Wings to use their logo and over the years Jack and Carmen built the Red Wings into one of the elite organizations in minor hockey.

The Toronto Red Wings Midget team, sponsored by Butter Beeps, was the first GTHL team to win the Canadian Championship in 1967.

We are proud of our former Red Wing players who have played in the NHL and the WHA, and of our more than 90 players who have attended universities, and of the more than 170-and still counting-who have reached the OHL and semi-pro levels. We have won 13 all-Ontario Championships in the past 15 years, and 32 GTHL Championships.
